“Stay and play” introduction session for new starters
Our youngest children can start playschool at age two where we offer stay and play settling in sessions for both parent/carer and child before they are due to start. This is a great way for your child to familiarise themselves with playschool as part of their settling in process.

Contributions towards snack are on a voluntary basis.

Lunch Club
Lunch club sessions are held from 12.00 – 1.00pm Monday to Thursday with parents providing their own packed lunch.
Lunch club gives children the opportunity to get used to eating in a large group. It helps to promote healthy eating, good hygiene and table manners in a relaxed and happy atmosphere. The children are also encouraged to build on their independence, self-help skills and social skills. We have a ‘No Nut policy’ in playschool.

Playschool Uniform
A sense of belonging
The playschool recognises the importance of building a sense of identity and belonging and for this reason, we have an optional play school uniform which the children can wear with pride.
Playschool uniforms can easily be obtained, please call into the playschool office for further details.

Voluntary Contributions
We are committed to providing the highest quality early education that is inclusive to all within a nurturing environment for your child.
Our funded entitlement covers the essential learning and care.
Snack contributions
To enable us to continue to provide a wide variety of nutritious, healthy and fun snacks we invite parents to make a voluntary contribution towards this. We aim to keep snack contributions voluntary to enable playschool to be inclusive to all.
Suncream contributions*
Your voluntary contributions help to keep our sunscreen supply stocked; this means more carefree moments of learning and fun in the great outdoors! Together, we can make sure every child stays sun-smart and smiling!
How to contribute
All contributions are voluntary and strictly confidential. You may contribute any amount, and all children will benefit equally, regardless of whether a donation is made.
Voluntary contributions can be made through our peoples fundraising page or in the box outside the classroom.
We are immensely grateful to those who are able to support our setting.
Open Door Policy
Partnership with parents
We recognise that parents & primary carers are the first educators of their children and welcome any contribution they wish to make. We have an open-door policy where parents are welcomed into the setting.
Parents are regularly kept informed of what is happening at Playschool through newsletters, class dojo and our classroom notice boards.
Parents are encouraged to contribute to record keeping and are given the opportunity to discuss progress and share any concerns they may have about their child.
Parents are invited to join us for specific events throughout the year such as Sports Day, Easter Celebrations, Christmas Nativity, Charity driven toddles, Coffee Mornings, Stay and Play and other exciting fundraising activities!
There is also a parent representative on the Governing Body.
Class dojo
Class dojo is a free, secure online platform that enables us to easily keep in touch, sharing the children’s learning, forthcoming events and notices. It enables two-way communication so you can message the room lead and vice versa.
Learning journals
At St Mary’s playschool our learning journals are hard copies, they enable us to record and monitor the children’s progress and development; We would love you to contribute towards this by sending in photo’s of special times and events that your child can share with us. When your child leaves playschool, the journal will be bound and presented to you.
Photographs
Any photographs taken of the children are for sole use of the Playschool or for the children’s records which will be the property of the parent/carer when the child leaves. They will be displayed from time to time for parents to see at the Playschool.
Please note: The playschool will always seek permission when using photographs elsewhere e.g. in the local press, on this website or the Playschool’s social media.
